Cooperation with the Institute for Pesticides and Environmental Protection in the clonal selection of autochthonous and regional varieties of grapevine
In order to carry out the activities of phytosanitary clonal selection of autochthonous and regional varieties of Serbia’s grapevine according to international standards and protocols related to phytoplasma of grapevine, the Center for Viticulture and Oenology and the Institute for Plant Protection signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and thus formalized long-standing mutual support in this field.
In this way, close cooperation between these two research institutions has been established, with the aim of carrying out activities for the preservation and valorization of, first of all, autochthonous and regional grape varieties in Serbia and realization of domestic and international projects. This Memorandum will especially include cooperation in the realization of phytosanitary laboratory analyzes of plant material of grapevine by the Institute for Pesticides and Environmental Protection (Belgrade, Zemun) in the presence of phytoplasmas of the vine. The Center for Viticulture and Oenology carries out research activities on the field through the network of 7 Regional Offices of the Center and conducting clonal selection activities, and the overall cooperation will contribute to the systematic process of clonal selection and certification of fruit grapes of Serbia.
